Google Android is an open software platform and operating system for smartphones and other mobile devices developed by Google and the Open Handset Alliance.1 Based on Linux, Android is designed to allow independent developers to write their own programs for devices using the system.2 The unveiling of the project was accompanied by the announcement of the Open Handset Alliance, a group of 34 hardware, software and telecom companies.
2. Blogger – Blogger was started by a tiny company in San Francisco called Pyra Labs in August of 1999. This was in the midst of the dot-com boom. But we weren’t exactly a VC-funded, party-throwing, foosball-in-the-lobby-playing, free-beer-drinking outfit. (Unless it was other people’s free beer.)
   
3. Gmail – Gmail is the Google approach to email and chat. Practically unlimited free online storage allows you to collect all your messages, and Gmail’s simple but very smart interface lets you find them precisely and see them in context without effort. POP and powerful IMAP access bring Gmail to any email program or device. Gmail puts contextual advertising next to the emails you read.
   
4. Google Ad Manager – Google Ad Manager is a product within Google’s AdSense network based on a new hosted advertisement management tool. Google Ad Manager has been seen as a direct threat to OpenX, an on-premise software solution (known previously as OpenAds and phpAdsNew) for managing the advertising campaigns on websites.

8. Google App Engine – Google App Engine is a platform for building and hosting web applications on Google Web Servers. It was first released as a beta version in April 2008. During its preview release, only free accounts are offered. Google has also indicated its intention to eventually provide additional resources for a price.
